ADEPOJU ADVOCATES INVESTMENT IN YOUTH TO SECURE NIGERIA’S FUTURE THROUGH STEM DEVELOPMENT

The Director General, National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA), Dr. Matthew Adepoju has stressed the need for quality investment in the younger generation to guarantee a viable future for the Country.

Dr. Adepoju made this statement when he played host to the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, STEM Child Care Academy, SCCA, at the Agency’s Headquarters in Abuja.

According to him, the development of independent minded Children will not only guarantee a viable future but will also provide a formidable platform that will accelerate the pace of social development.

The NASRDA boss added that the Agency is willing to support the activities of SCCA especially in ensuring that it achieves its objective of developing science and technology in the Country thereby shaping the minds of the younger generations along the Science and Technology ecosystem.

Dr. Adepoju who used the opportunity of the visit to invite the Chairman and the students for exhibition during the forthcoming 25th anniversary of the Agency said, the Space Museum will always be open to them at 100% subsidized arrangement to serve as an encouragement and subsequent contribution to the development of the system.

He also expressed the Agency’s willingness to partner with SCCA in possible areas that will enhance its activities for the collective interest and benefit of Nigerians.

Speaking earlier, the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, STEM Child Care Academy (SCCA), Dr. Mamu Mohammed explained that the purpose of the visit is to enhance partnership and support from the Space Agency because of its strategic posture in the development of Science and technology in the Country.

He said, the introduction of STEM education in their curriculum started ten years ago with the support of an Indian firm which provided the relevant requirements.

According to him, the curriculum built on the tripod of the Cambridge license to promote competitiveness, STEM education, and the indigenization of the various policies and Programmes, is basically designed to handle coding, robotics, 3D design, animation and fabrication.

The collaboration between NASRDA and SCCA is aimed at providing the young minds with the necessary support in their pursuit of activities that will foster the development of Science and Technology in the country.
