BACKGROUND OF ISSE

The Institute of Space Science & Engineering (ISSE), which is currently located in Abuja-FCT, was established on the 2nd June, 2015 in accordance with the National Space Research & Development Agency (NASRDA) Act 2010.
It is a unique postgraduate Institute set to address the growing needs of space scientific knowledge and innovations in Nigeria and Africa continent at large. In general, the Institute comprises of the following programmes: Space Physics, Geoinformatics and GIS Applications, Aerospace Engineering and Systems Engineering leading to the award of Master of Science (M.Sc.) and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degrees.
The programmes were strategically developed in response to the challenges faced by today’s scientific community that requires ability to analyze and solve complex scientific and engineering design problems in space science and engineering.
The Institute involves interdisciplinary skills, expertise and approaches for proffering solutions to a better understanding of Earth-Sun systems and space technology for the purpose of improving socio-economic development and safety of our world today.

Vision

The Institute is committed to be a leading national and international institute of space research and development that is able to demonstrate high-quality teaching, learning and enterprise. To bridge the gap between the industrial sector and the academia by creating enabling environments that will help the students and staff to acquire skills and maximize their potentials so as to strengthen research quality and thereby increase knowledge transfer and economic impact for the benefit of humanity.

Mission

-The Institute of Space Science and Engineering is a research and development-oriented institution that is set to pursue learning, scholarship and advancing dissemination of knowledge that can be used to leverage the Nation to become an advanced economy.
-The Institute is committed to working closely with its students, businesses, government, private sector, civil society and international collaborators for proper knowledge transfer for the benefit of humankind.
-To be an exclusively postgraduate, mono-Institution (Single Faculty), that will be a world-class leader in research, development and innovations.
